Malta made history at the Esports Mediterranean Games 2026 in Montenegro, marking our country’s first-ever participation in a nation-based esports competition. Team Malta proudly represented the nation on the regional stage and returned home with a landmark medal.
Francesca “Cynder Dragoneye” Brincat delivered a standout performance in the Tekken 8 Women’s competition, securing an incredible third place and becoming the first female athlete to officially compete under the Malta National Esports Team.
Her journey included victories over Croatia, before claiming bronze in dominant fashion with a 3:0 win in the third-place match.
Malcolm “Fantasystrikes” Said also impressed in eFootball, topping Group D and advancing to the knockout stages with strong results against Serbia and Morocco.
Eros “AbsoluteZero” Zammit gave an excellent account of himself in the Tekken 8 Men’s competition, narrowly missing out after a close 2:3 quarter-final battle against Morocco.
These achievements reflect the steady rise of Malta’s esports sector and the growing opportunities being created for local talent through investment, digital skills, and international exposure, in line with Malta Vision 2050.
Congratulations to Francesca, Malcolm, Eros, and all involved in this milestone moment for Malta.
