GamingMalta Hosts Students at base_camp to Explore Malta’s Video Game Industry

Today’s students are tomorrow’s innovators! Last week, we welcomed over 50 Business Studies and Computing students at the GamingMalta base_camp incubation Facility in Żejtun.
The San Anton School students experienced a hands-on introduction to Malta’s growing gaming and tech ecosystem, with GamingMalta CEO Ivan Filletti giving a practical overview of the industry and of our role as a Foundation. He also introduced the founders and entrepreneurs who are shaping today’s creative and digital sectors.
The day also included direct interaction with three industry leaders: John Keefe (Co-Founder & CTO of the Malta-based Draw and Code), Simon Dotschuweit (who had a successful exit from Dorado Games), and Ali Motisi (founder of Outofthebit and Malta-based Hand Rock Studio).
Throughout their visit, students explored the innovation hub, learning how start-ups are supported locally and internationally, while engaging with immersive technology tools to gain a practical view of entrepreneurship beyond the classroom.
The GamingMalta team was delighted to host such an engaged group of students and to share insight about the opportunities that exist within Malta’s evolving digital and creative economy.
The experience offered a tangible example of how GamingMalta is bringing Vision 2050 to life, focusing on talent development, exposure to emerging industries, and building confidence through real-world practice.
