GamingMalta represented Malta at gamescom 2025, showcasing the island’s growing strength across game development, esports, and education. The GamingMalta stand brought together 18 Maltese studios and institutions, presenting a united presence for Malta’s interactive entertainment sector.
Game development was the main focus, with Maltese studios networking with publishers, partners, and investors from around the world. Their participation highlighted Malta’s expanding creative base and the solid framework that supports developers in gaining international exposure and building sustainable growth.
Esports also took centre stage, with GMR and World Pro Racing (WPR) demonstrating Malta’s progress in creating a structured competitive environment, from community-level participation to international tournaments. These efforts build on GamingMalta’s continued collaboration with BLAST, which brings global competitions to Malta while supporting local production and talent development.
Education further strengthened Malta’s presence, with the Institute of Digital Games (University of Malta) and the Institute of ICT at MCAST showcasing student projects and research that reflected the next generation of creators. Team DIEnosaur from the Institute of Digital Games also presented their work, highlighting the growing link between academic innovation and industry opportunity.
To deepen connections within the international community, GamingMalta hosted the Gamescom Mixer, bringing together Maltese and international professionals for an evening of networking and exchange. The event fostered dialogue on collaboration, partnerships, and shared ambitions for the sector’s continued development.
All these efforts reflect Malta’s Vision 2050, strengthening the connection between education, creativity, and industry to build a sustainable and competitive ecosystem for game development, esports, and immersive tech.
