The Brazilian Premier Esports Team joining other esports brands selecting Malta as a base for European operations.
GamingMalta is pleased to welcome Imperial Esports to the Maltese Islands, as the Brazilian esports brand has officially announced the opening of its European headquarters in Malta. Imperial Esports, best known for its Counter-Strike team, joins other esports household names such as Furia, and Esports Tournament producers BLAST in Malta, consolidating our reputation as a European esports hub.
The announcement follows an earlier Government statement confirming a €60 million investment by companies in the igaming, and esports sectors that are choosing Malta as their preferred location. The move marks a significant milestone for Imperial Esports, with the opening of the Paceville headquarters signalling a new chapter in the company’s plans for European expansion.
The 180m² facility will be hosting local tournaments and the Malta eSports Association, serving as a strategic base for bootcamps and pre-tournament preparations. The building will also serve as Imperial Esports’ European operations centre, with high-performance facilities for team training, content creation, and competitive management across the continent. The location is equipped to host multiple teams simultaneously, besides offering areas for live broadcasts, content production and meeting rooms.
Congratulating Imperial Esports on their expansion, GamingMalta CEO Ivan Filletti stated: “This has been an exceptionally strong year for esports in Malta, as we’ve seen a number of high-profile brands make their base here. Malta has already proven itself as the home of gaming excellence, and now we’re extending this success to esports. The island boasts a deep understanding of all gaming verticals, complemented by the support of government, stakeholders and institutions. Through our Make it in Malta campaign, GamingMalta is relentlessly promoting all the advantages that make the island such a strong jurisdiction for companies operating in the gaming and immersive tech sectors. We aim to continue pushing this strategy forward, in alignment with the goals laid down by Vision 2050.”
Bruno Silveira, VP/CFO of Imperial Esports, also noted how Malta is already home to major international tournaments and offices of leading global gaming and entertainment companies, while also offering excellent connectivity to destinations such as the UK, Turkey, Germany, and Serbia — making it a natural meeting point for players, creators, and teams from around the world.
“The choice of Malta as Imperial’s European base reflects a strategic move. Given the growing number of international events taking place in the region, the new facility positions itself as a potential shared base for other organisations and global partners, strengthening the overall presence of the competitive gaming community in Europe,” he stated.
The new Paceville headquarters will become fully operational in December, with an early debut planned for this month, when the men’s Counter-Strike team will hold its pre-Major bootcamp at the facility.
