Inside GamingMalta’s Student Placement Programme (SPP) with Zarzilla Games

Real industry experience. Real student stories.

Four students currently reading for an Advanced Diploma in Marketing at MCAST are undertaking their placements with Zarzilla Games through the GamingMalta Student Placement Programme (SPP). The experience is giving them direct exposure to how marketing operates within a game studio, turning theory from the classroom into real-world practice.

Each student is contributing to different parts of the studio’s work. Their tasks include research into player behaviour, supporting campaign development, analysing digital trends, and helping shape communication strategies. From using professional tools for idea mapping to evaluating audience engagement, the students are gaining practical insight into the daily demands of marketing in a creative environment.

Jadyn Gauci is focusing on marketing research and audience insights. Sveyl Galea is involved in reviewing product feedback and identifying messaging opportunities. Aiden Azzopardi is working on digital trend analysis and social media research. Adian Falzon is supporting campaign planning and content coordination, contributing to how messages are structured and delivered.

Throughout their time at Zarzilla, the students are experiencing a professional and supportive workplace. They’ve noted the helpful guidance, frequent feedback, and openness of the team. Each one is involved in meaningful work and developing essential skills in time management, critical thinking, and team communication.

The placement is helping them see how their studies apply in practice. It’s also confirming their interest in marketing as a career. While some would like more teamwork-based assignments or clearer internal communication, all agree the experience is preparing them well for what lies ahead.

Zarzilla’s CEO, Dan Ghitza, praised the value of these placements:

“These students brought energy, curiosity, and a fresh perspective to our team. It’s encouraging to see young talent so eager to learn. The Student Placement Programme gives us a chance to mentor while benefiting from their input.”

The SPP continues to serve as a strong link between education and industry, offering students real responsibility while giving studios access to fresh talent and new ideas.
