Malta’s gaming talent is heading to Köln this August!
On 25th August, GamingMalta will once again support the European Game Night (EGN), SpielFabrique’s exclusive indie game showcase and networking event marking the start of gamescom week.
The event, which is now in its seventh consecutive year, brings together emerging studios and industry professionals from across Europe. It is known for creating a dedicated space where developers can present their work, make new connections and gain greater visibility within the international games sector.
Representing Malta this year are PawBeans Studios, a collective of MCAST students whose collaboration began through various projects and school-led game jams, as well as FEENIX Group, an international creative studio operating from base_camp in Malta and the UK, creating games and interactive experiences for globally recognised brands including Paddington and Puffin Rock, as well as Roblox experiences and esports projects. The two homegrown studios follow previous Maltese participants PlayonWords Studios, Zarzilla Games, Team DIEnosaur and HASOO, continuing Malta’s presence at an event designed specifically around Europe’s independent development community.
For PawBeans Studios, this marks their first opportunity to pitch their work to an international industry audience. By supporting emerging developers as they transition from education into the games industry, GamingMalta is investing in the next generation of talent. Creating opportunities for students to gain industry exposure, build professional networks and develop practical experience reflects both GamingMalta’s North Star of growing Malta’s games ecosystem and the talent development objectives set out in MaltaVision 2050.
FEENIX Group represents the type of studio growth GamingMalta is working to encourage. Having expanded its operations from the UK into Malta, the studio demonstrates the country’s growing appeal as a destination for game development and interactive entertainment. By supporting internationally active studios that invest in Malta, GamingMalta is helping foster innovation, strengthen international collaboration and grow a sustainable games ecosystem, supporting the long-term ambitions of MaltaVision 2050.
As Malta’s games ecosystem continues to grow, initiatives like these give local talent and studios the opportunity to build international connections, showcase their work and contribute to the country’s long-term vision for interactive entertainment. We look forward to seeing PawBeans Studios and FEENIX Group represent Malta in Köln.
