Turning a creative vision into a game that reaches players takes more than development alone. For Llamaplay, the base_camp Accelerator Programme helped bridge that gap.

The Malta-based team took part in the 2025/26 programme, delivered by Gaming Malta in collaboration with SpielFabrique. Alongside developing their game, they met people across the industry and saw how publishers and investors assess projects and make funding decisions.

Making a game is a creative effort, but bringing it to players also means understanding the people and partners who help make that possible. Supporting local studios through that step is what this programme is for.

Llamaplay’s When the Embers Wake, a narrative adventure about red panda conservation, is coming to Steam on 27 October. We look forward to following the team’s next chapter.
