Malta’s Esports Talent Takes Its Place on the International Stage

Malta’s esports talent is represented on the international stage, with 10 players representing the country across Counter-Strike 2 and Rocket League in the qualifiers for the Global Esports Games 2026.

The competition brings players together under their national colours across some of the biggest titles in competitive gaming. This is a very real opportunity for Maltese talent to pit itself against international opposition in games where the country already has an active and growing competitive community.

Maltese players and teams can qualify through official rankings and competitive performance under the tournament’s regional management structure.

Malta’s connection with the Counter-Strike franchise has strengthened considerably through the global events hosted on the island, alongside the development of the local competitive scene. Rocket League has also become an increasingly visible part of Malta’s esports activity, giving another community of players the opportunity to showcase their talent during the Global Esports Games 2026.

These opportunities continue to strengthen the pathway for a healthy esports ecosystem, not simply by hosting major events in Malta, but also by giving Maltese players clear routes to compete beyond the island.

The continued support of such pathways, from grassroots participation and talent development to international competition, forms an important part of GamingMalta’s work and of the wider ambition to build a sustainable digital and creative sector under Malta Vision 2050.
